(Lewiston, ME) – Here’s an update on the first brewery planning to can its beer in Maine, Baxter Brewing.
This winter, cans of Baxter Pamola Xtra Pale Ale and Baxter Stowaway IPA will hit shelves in Maine.
According to President and CEO, Luke Livingston, “The plan right now is to open our retail shop in the middle of November for t-shirts, test samples and tours. We’ll have beer out on the street (in cans and kegs) at the very end of January.”
Baxter cans will only be available in Maine for the first quarter but the brewery hopes to enter the Massachusetts market in time for next summer. Vermont and New Hampshire might be options come 2012.
Pamola XPA, at 4.9% ABV and 29 IBUs, uses four different hops while Stowaway IPA is more aggressive at 6.9% ABV and 69 IBUs; the IPA uses six different hops.
