Boston Beer Co. says, “Not so fast, Beernews!”
On Friday, I posted about BBC getting label approval for Samuel Adams Belgian-Style IPA. I proceeded as if the beer had won this summer’s Beer Lover’s Choice Competition. However, I alluded to the possibility that it may not be set in stone and that the other challenger, American Rye Ale, may receive approval as well. Sure enough, it looks like it just did so under the name, “Revolutionary Rye Ale.” It’s a smart move by BBC as we’re now left guessing once again what beer has won the competition (or perhaps we’ll see both in bottles).
The Case of the IPA is launched! A hard-boiled beer detective story in 12 parts. Each bottle has a chapter and each case has all 12 chapters. It’s a gritty tale that you’ll love reading, chapter by chapter. We do advise you to read responsibly.
Per the Yazoo Brewing blog, “Fall Ale is made with all German malts – Munich, Vienna, Cara malt, and a little bit of Rye. It’s generously hopped with Hallertauer and Tettnang hops from Germany. It’s an ale, not a lager, but it’s loosely based on a typical Octoberfest beer, with our own twist with the Rye malt. It will be available as the next beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve 4-pack, beginning around the third week of October – you know, about the time that all the “Octoberfest” beers that came out in July are starting to show their age!”
Finally, Rahr and Sons Brewing got approval for its new Winter Warmer label.
Dont know if it means anything but the Belgian Style IPA label shows an ABV and the Revolutionary Rye Ale doesnt. . .
Good observation. A lot of labels are missing ABV when they are approved which is surprising.
