This edition includes briefs from Firestone Walker, The Bruery, Stone Brewing, Smuttynose, BrewDog, Saint Arnold and Jester King.
…In addition to some other FW tidbits, The Full Pint reports, “Firestone 14 will be released in CA,AZ,NV,WA,OR,NY and NJ so far. As of press, there should be roughly 2500 cases in targeted for circulation.” Those who attend the release party on November 6th will be limited torequired to purchase at least two bottles but there will be no limit (sorry for the confusion!). More details over at TFP.
…Also via The Full Pint, The Bruery has a new local-only release hitting shelves in a few weeks. “Loakal Red is a hoppy, oaky, American Red Ale. That’s right folks, our first ever beer brewed with an American ale yeast. This delicious beer is bright red with a citrusy nose and a slightly oaky dry finish.” Check out the label over at TFP. In addition, Autumn Maple has returned and two Reserve Society-only beers are now available under The Bruery Provision Series line, Premiere and Gunga Galunga. Premiere is a strong golden ale aged in bourbon barrels and GG is a black ale brewed with galanga (blue ginger), kaffir lime and fermented with 100% Brettanomyces.
…In Texas, Saint Arnold Brewing is expanding capacity to 50,000 barrels a year. Jester King beers are also making their debut on tap. If you want a bigger overview of the budding TX beer scene, check out the Houston Chronicle piece from yesterday. All of those links are Ronnie Crocker articles; he is certainly on top of the TX beer scene.
…Evan Benn of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Stone Brewing beers could be headed to Missouri sometime next year.
…Smuttynose Brewing posted up a video about the making of a pilot batch. It will eventually become Short Batch #12, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale spiced with thyme.
…Finally, BrewDog announced that its first craft beer bar, BrewDog Aberdeen, will open for business on October 19th in Scotland.

2 bottle limit on FW14? Seriously? Yikes.
Just confirmed with my insider @ Firestone that there will be NO LIMIT on FW14. Maybe the 2 bottle purchase to get into the party was misinterpreted…
To avoid confusion, the Autumn Maple that was just released with the Premiere and Gunga Galunga (in the photo) is the new 100% barrel fermented version. It’s autumn maple with the addition of brett and barrel aged in bourbon barrels for 10 months.
There will be no limit on 14 purchases at the party. There will be a two bottle minimum purchase to get into the party. It’s going to be a lot of fun and we hope to see a ton of people there.
