Beer notes: Ithaca, Cleveland Beer Week, Great Lakes, Elysian, Avery, Dogfish

Ithaca alpHalpHa

In this edition: Ithaca Beer Co., Cleveland Beer Week, Great Lakes Brewing, Elysian Brewing, Avery Brewing and Dogfish Head.

Ithaca Beer Co. sent out its newsletter yesterday with news that Ithaca alpHapHa is set to return. Follow @IthacaBeer on Twitter where the brewery will announce the release date. In addition, as of three days ago, the brewery still had its last five cases of Brute for the year remaining though that supply easily could have dried up by now.

…Cleveland Beer Week begins today. There is a lot in the press about it so I’ll refer you over to this Google News search for more coverage. Here is the official press release and official events calendar. Be on the lookout for more info here on the upcoming mixed 12-pack in the next week or so.

…Speaking of Cleveland, Great Lakes Brewing tweeted this week that Christmas Ale will return on Tuesday, October 26th at 4pm. The brewery will also put a new collaboration beer on tap today beginning at 4pm called Berlot as part of CBW festivites (it will also be included in the aforementioned mixed pack). Check out the semi-recent interview with Brewmaster, Luke Purcell, here.

Elysian Brewing holds its 6th annual pumpkin fest in Seattle this weekend. This brewery, more than any other in the U.S., is known for its pumpkin ales so this is a major event. Full details can be found over at the Washington Beer Blog.

…New Brew Thursday interviewed Adam Avery of Avery Brewing a couple weeks back. The interview was just posted online yesterday. They talk barrels and Pilsners among other things.

…From Dogfish Head on Facebook, “Beers that we’re still planning to begin shipping to wholesalers this month: Olde School Barelywine, Burton Baton, Squall IPA and My Antonia!”

…Finally, I linked to a ton of articles in the last 24 hours which should make for lots of weekend reading. Everything from Smuttynose Brewing‘s small legal battle to a slew of new breweries opening soon. All of them can be found in the upper right corner widget of the website here…or you can follow me on Twitter or friend me on Facebook where they all get posted as well. Also, if you want instant alerts on Beernews.org posts like this one sent to your phone, you should subscribe to them (they’re called “SMS updates”) on Twitter or Facebook. Probably not recommended unless you have an unlimited texting plan though…email me if you want help with that.
