Epic Brewing Company triples in size

epic-small(Salt Lake City, UT) – Epic Brewing Company, Utah’s only brewery to exclusively brew high alcohol content beer is breaking ground on its existing location to add approximately 3,000 square feet. The ground breaking is set to begin early November and be complete by mid-January 2011.

Since Epic’s Grand Opening on May 17, 2010 at 825 South State Street the brewery has more than tripled its production capacity. “We found Salt Lake City and Utah craft beer lovers to be a dedicated bunch,” says David Cole, Epic Co-founder. “They are enthusiastic and appreciate the extra effort in brewing fine, high quality, small batch beers.”

Brewing three levels of beer—Classic, Elevated and Exponential, Epic originally housed seven fermentation tanks in its 2,500 square foot building along with the brew house to brew 11 unique ales and lagers. Head Brewer Kevin Crompton, has been busy creating Epic’s Exponential line adding more than 18 crafted beers to Epic’s strong beer portfolio.

With the expansion, Epic will immediately add three, 40-barrel fermentation tanks and one 40 barrel bright beer tank to the cellar, and an additional whirlpool/wort receiver to the brew house. The building expansion will also provide room for more barrel aging. The tanks have been ordered for January delivery.

After the expansion Epic will have more than 5,300 square feet, a total of 360 barrels of fermentation and 60 barrels of bright-beer-packaging tanks with room left to add more tanks down the road.

Epic’s total production next year could be more than 6,000 barrels of high point beer. The initial business plan projection for 2011 was only 700 barrels.

Epic Brewing Company is located at 825 South State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah and on the web at www.epicbrewing.com.
