(Santa Rosa, CA) – Russian River Brewing‘s very limited bottle offering already sold out.
“Some of you may know about the beer that never was, the beer that I never had a chance to blog about before it completely sold out. I will admit, I am a little bummed that someone posted it on Beer Advocate before lunch yesterday and all 23 cases were snatched up in less than 24 hours,” Natalie Cilurzo writes. The beer quietly went on sale on Thursday.
What is that beer? Russian River Framboise for a Cure.
Russian River brewed one barrel of the beer in order to raise funds for the Sutter Women’s Health and Breast Care Center. 23 cases (375ml bottles) of the beer sold out in less than 24 hours netting over $3,000 for the cause. Per Mario Rubio, “Framboise For a Cure is a spontaneously fermented beer, aged in fresh oak with fresh raspberries for 6 months. […] The use of fresh raspberries marks this beer with its own tart sweetness. The intensity of this beer isn’t going to scare away casual beer drinkers as this Framboise is incredibly approachable.”

Its kinda lame how fast the beer sold out. I intentionally didn’t write about the beer until the Friday to hopefully give the locals a chance before beer geeks descended on Santa Rosa in swarms.

Let me get this straight..A good/great beer was made, sold and the proceeds were given to a good cause. WTF is the problem? “Boo hoo, people like our beer and it always sells out.” Careful RR, don’t let your nose get too high in the air. If they were smart they would have sold the bottles for $100 each and really raked in the $$$ for the charity…
