Stone Lukcy Basartd Ale arrives in November

Stone-Lucky-Bastard

(Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing has received label approval for Lukcy Basartd Ale.

[UPDATE: I’ve been told that not everything reported/link in this post is accurate by a brewery representative. Expect finite details on this beer in the next 24-48 hours. Official info below. Confirmed that it will be bottled in addition to being available on tap.]

[UPDATE II: Bottle label image can be found here!]

OFFICIAL INFORMATION FROM STONE MEDIA TEAM:

“Lukcy Basartd is a dry-hopped meeting-of-the-Bastards in a in-the-fermenter-blend of Arrogant Bastard Ale and Double Bastard Ale…with a perfect balance of the essence of OAKED Arrogant Bastard Ale. All in all, one awesome Bastard.

Lukcy Basartd Ale will be released in November and should be available in many of the enlightened locations where the liquied Arrogance is typically found.

This is a ‘once only’ special release commemorating the 13 year anniversary of when Arrogant Bastard Ale was first released upon the unsuspecting public. That is, ‘once only’ unless we decide to make it again. 8.5% ABV.”

ORIGINAL POST:

Here’s a roundup of what is known so far about a new beer from Stone. At this point, the beer has only received label approval for draft sales but there’s also rumor that it could hit bottles. As posted originally by a Beer Advocate user: “I ran across this at Bevmo website: A blend of Arrogant Bastard, Oaked Arrogant Bastard & Double Bastard to commemorate the 13th Anniversary of Arrogant Bastard. 22 oz bottle $5.99.” The beer will come in at 9.2% ABV per the label. It looks like that BevMo listing has since been taken down though.

If the label approval and BevMo listing weren’t enough, this tweet from a Stone Brewing sales rep in Texas seems to confirm that the beer exists.

Additionally, The Full Pint reports that the beer will not be called Lucky Bastard Ale but will actually be called Lukcy Basartd Ale. A search for beers and wines didn’t reveal any competing products named Lucky Bastard so perhaps the re-name is just a quirky move by Stone. Stay tuned.

  1. Perhaps the name change had to do with confusion with Lucky Lager? Maybe it might be seen as a Lucky Supermarket house brand?

With so many breweries fighting for the names it’s a wonder anything gets approved!
