(Downingtown, PA) – Victory Brewing will release Dark Intrigue in bottles.
[10/22 Update: According to the brewery’s Twitter page, this will only be available in bottles and “not until after November 24th.” The 24th is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Also, see the new video below.]
A month ago, the brewery leaked on Facebook that it had some bourbon barrels in the house. Today, we know what those barrels are, at least partially, being used for…aging Storm King Stout. The resulting beer, Dark Intrigue, will be released in bottle-conditioned 750s.
Label copy: “Since its arrival in 1997, our Storm King Stout has enticed folks to “discover the dark intrigue” as its label suggests. While enjoying that great imperial stout, we have been intrigued by the myriad of flavors it exhibits, and encouraged to test the limits of perception and pleasure by adding to the rich experience of Storm King Stout. So here you have such a exploration, involving Storm King Stout aged in oak barrels that once matured Kentucky bourbon. Blended to perfection, this one is surely dark and intriguing!”
This beer sounds fantastic. Not sure how it slipped under my radar so long, but I’d imagine since I haven’t seen it anywhere that it’s too late to get my hands on some?
