Beer notes: Victory Yakima Twilight changed to Victory Yakima Glory

In this edition: Victory Brewing, Flying Dog, Troegs Brewing, SweetWater Brewing, 512 Brewing and Iron Hill (NJ).

Victory Brewing has changed the name of Yakima Twilight to Yakima Glory. From what we’ve seen over the past year, there’s normally a second brewery (and lots of contention) involved in these things. The brewery won’t say what’s behind the change though I believe (I’m speculating) that this case is no different from the others. A quick search through the TESS database shows that Deschutes Brewery has a trademark for Twilight Ale. Coincidence? Whatever led to the change, it looks like things were resolved quietly behind closed doors. More importantly, regardless of what the label says, the beer will be in stores in November and will now be produced on a regular basis.

…Per My Beer Buzz, Troegs Scratch #35, a Fresh Hop Ale, will be released this Friday beginning at 10am. “This hoppy beer was brewed with fresh citra hops delivered overnight from hop farms in Oregon. We will celebrate the release of Scratch 35 with a firkin on the bar in the Troegs Tasting Room.”

…Atlanta’s SweetWater Brewing reports on Twitter that the brewery will be releasing Exodus Porter beginning Wednesday, October 13th. The beer will be available as part of the Catch and Release Series only on draft and in the winter variety pack.

Iron Hill Brewing (in Maple Shade, NJ) reports on Twitter about its Pumpkin Ale release party 10/23 from 12-5 pm. Pumpkin Ale, Imperial Pumpkin Ale (9.2%) & a very limited quantity of Bourbon Imperial Pumpkin

…Austin’s 512 Brewing reports on Twitter that Brandy Barrel Aged ONE should be available soon.

…Finally, Flying Dog Brewery posts a humorous note received by a 9-year old about how dogs can’t fly. Real or hoax?
