Various news and notes from Harpoon Brewery, Half Acre Beer Co., East End Brewing, Moonshot, Oakshire Brewing and Peace Tree Brewing…and a link to a Thanksgiving beer podcast.

[11/24 Update: The above label has been rejected by the TTB. Smart folks over there…read here.]

…From Half Acre Beer Co.‘s blog, “The SS Simon Short is ready to launch. This 6% abv earthy porter is a reliable go to for your weekend needs. We’ve been drinking it since Wednesday and have taken quite a shine to this dogwatch porter. Growlers only / $12 fills / $16 w/ growler.” The label for that beer is actually going to be the background tiling on the new Over Ale cans.

…Remember Rhonda Kallman from Beer Wars? She runs New Century Brewing which makes a beer called Moonshot. That beer was one of a handful of products declared to be unsafe this week by the FDA and being one of two products the brewery makes, she is obviously not a happy camper. Check out her statement on Beer Advocate. The Moonshot website is currently down.

Harpoon Brewery packaged up Oak Aged Dunkel, the 34th member in the 100 Barrel Series today. See the label here. Per the brewery’s website, “Our Oak Aged Dunkel is brewed using traditional German ingredients and aged on American Oak. The brew itself is highlighted by Munich malt, Tettnang hops, and German Ale yeast, resulting in a clean, earthy flavor.”

East End Brewing has beers waiting label approval. From the brewery’s Scott Smith, “Look for a Coffee Porter release date the week after Thanksgiving – always nice to have some coffee after a big meal, right? Homewood Reserve will be released in about 3-4 weeks from now, so let’s call it mid-December. That and the addition of an Oatmeal Stout on draft will officially mean that our ‘Festival of Darkness’ is in full swing.”

Oakshire Brewing reveals it has created something of a Gnome clan brewing. Look for Very Ill-Tempered Gnome and Well-Mannered Gnome soon.

Peace Tree Brewing announced the release of Double IPA.

…If you’re getting in the Thanksgiving mood, I recommend checking out The Brewing Network podcast from last night with Sean Paxton, The Homebrew Chef. Paxton talks turkey and beer for more than two hours. Well worth the listen.
