(Milton, DE) – Some collaboration news from down undah, mates…

Thanks to those who rated this past week’s episode, “Bitches Brew.” After nearly 500 votes, you collectively gave it a 7.4 out of 10. Tonight, Discovery Channel will air the second episode in the Brew Masters series, “Chicha.” Much to my chagrin, the network has not put up preview clips of the episode on Youtube so I don’t have anything to embed here. I’ll pass on posting the 30 second preview. Give me something better than that, Discovery.

Instead, I will preview the fourth episode, “Punkin and Tomatoes,” which will air on December 12th. New Zealand-based Epic Beer reports that the beer that it co-created with Dogfish Head called Portamarillo is now available in New Zealand and will soon be available in Australia. More importantly, Epic’s Luke Nicholas leaves it open that the beer could ship to the U.S. sometime next year.

The beer is described as “a collaboration, a Festive brew and the world’s first tree tomato beer. A sorta-Porter fermented with New Zealand-grown Tamarillos, which were smoked using wood chips from the sacred Pohutakawa tree (also known as the NZ Christmas tree).”

Check out the Portamarillo website here. Here’s a review of the beer via Brewnation. In the video below from August, Nicholas and DFH’s Sam Calagione discuss the beer.
