Flying Dog Brewery Update: Barrel-Aged Gonzo, Wild Goose, 60k barrels

Barrel-Aged Gonzo 3L Front

(Frederick, MD) – It’s been a busy December for Flying Dog Brewery.

…The brewery got approval for Barrel-Aged Gonzo Imperial Porter in 3L bottles this week.

BeerinBaltimore.com and The Baltimore Sun reported that Flying Dog sold its rights to the Wild Goose brand to a local nanobrewery, Logan Shaw Brewing.

…According to FD’s Matt Brophy, the brewery packaged its 60,000 barrel on December 1st. If we assume that the brewery will stay on that pace, it will end up with around 65,000 barrels on the year. That is an impressive 30% increase from last year’s ~50,000 barrels (New Brewer / Brewers Association).

…Lastly, if you missed it, look for Flying Dog Coffee Stout in bottles soon. It’s worth noting that a Black Dog Coffee representative is posting info that conflicts with info in the article. Just another day in the life…

  1. I would be the Black Dog Coffee rep mentioned above. For the record, I haven’t posted any information that I was not given by the good folks at Flying Dog and I’m not sure what I’ve posted that is contrary to the article.
I believe what may have happened is that for what I’m sure are good and practical reasons, some things may have changed between our earlier discussions and now that the beer is about to be released. The only thing I can think of is that there was discussion about the bottles being 750ml and it now appears that they are 12oz.
You can bet I’m excited about this stuff hitting the shelves!

  2. Thanks, Brian! I completely forgot to include the link to your post. It wasn’t meant to be a slight; I just wanted to point out that there was conflicting information out there in case something I reported turns out to not be accurate. You had posted 750s, nationwide distribution & it being a recurring seasonal. The FD website calls it a one-off, it has label approval for 12 oz. bottles and & a distribution rep said mid-Atlantic only. A PR person for the company didn’t bother to return my email seeking clarification. “I get no respect!” – Rodney Dangerfield. Cheers, Adam
