White Birch Barrel-Aged Night Falls, Hop Session Ale approved

(Hooksett, NH) – White Birch Brewing got two more labels approved this week.

[12/31 Update: See additional comments from WBB’s Bill Herlicka below. Looks like Hop Session will not be bottled after all.]

(At least) two new White Birch beers should hit shelves next year: Barrel-Aged Night Falls American Wild Ale and Hop Session Ale. Hop Session looks to be something like a West Coast-style hoppy beer. Night Falls is a bit more mysterious but uses dark malts according to the label.

Also of note…from Facebook today, “Today we’re doing a special project beer which will be aged in our trusty pinot barrels and further conditioned with a blend of brettanomyces from our wild farm.”

  1. Thanks for noticing our new brews. The hop session is a new approach for us. We’re going to try a draft only beer and take advantage of our growing distribution. Built around a Nugget hop bittering base, we want this beer to be sessionable, hoppy and as fresh as we can ensure it will be. We’re also considering growlers in March or so of 2011. Let us know what you think of that idea.

The Darkness Falls is a dark wild barrel aged brew. Tart, smooth with notes of cherries and raspberries this one’s a lot of fun. There’s a companion contrasting wild project which we’ve almost got through label approval. They’ll both be coming out together in January. More to come on these. Cheers, Bill
