Brewery Begins its 25th Year With Double Digit Growth
(Abita Springs, LA) – The Abita Brewing Company, the oldest and largest craft brewer in the southeast, has announced annual sales growth figures. 2010 sales for the company grew 21.5% over the previous year with volume increasing to 109,000 barrels. Abita is the 30th largest commercial brewer in the nation and the 17th largest craft brewer.
“It was a great year for us,” said David Blossman, President of Abita Beer. “To keep up with demand we completed a 5,500 square foot addition to our cellar and are now in the process of installing ten new 400 barrel tanks.” In 2011 Abita will also invest in a new Krones packaging line which will significantly increase the speed, efficiency and flexibility of the bottling process for the Louisiana brewery. The line will be housed in a new 25,000 square foot building.
