Firestone-Walker-Abacus

Latest batch of label approvals…

Per the Firestone Walker website, Firestone Walker Abacus will be released in February in 22 oz. bottles and limited draft. Description: “Abacus is a barrel aged Barley Wine. Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. Abacus pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.” There are 1,500 cases produced according to the label.

terrapin-tomfoolery

Label copy: “Tomfoolery Black Saison is the latest addition to our side project series of beers. Number 14 on the list, this ale boasts an uncharacteristic black color for a traditional saison, but is just enough for our experimental mentality. Made with a silly amount of rye, wheat and black malts, this dark spicy beverage will tickle the taste buds of any court jester in the land.” Terrapin Beer Co. said on its Facebook page that this one will be available around the end of January.

96125-MissionStAnniversary

Speaking of Firestone Walker, they have produced a new beer for Trader Joes called Mission St. 2011 Anniversary Ale. Label copy: “This year’s Mission St. Anniversary Ale showcases complex malt flavors with roasty notes layered in and medium hop character. It is a blend of three incredible brews carefully blended for maxiumum aroma and flavor. We affectionately call this brew an Imperial Brown Ale. 8.5% ABV.” 22 oz. bottles.

Stoudts-Imperial-Schwarzbier

Stoudts Imperial Schwarzbier decription: “This is a high gravity interpretation of the classic German style black lager. Generous amounts of dehusked German barley were used to give the beer its dark color without adding the roasted or burnt flavors that are associated with typical dark beers. This coupled with lower hopping rates lends to a smooth flavor with a medium body and mildly warming finish. 7.6% ABV.” Large format bottles and draft.
