Beer notes: Bell’s, Troegs, Lost Abbey, Avery, Saint Arnold and more

The first week back from the holidays tends to be the busiest beer news week of the year. Here’s the latest…

Bell’s Brewery confirmed what I and others reported earlier in the week. The first day of Hopslam is January 10th.

…From Troegs Brewing‘s Facebook page, “Nugget Nectar cases, six packs and growlers will be available at the Troegs Brewery Tasting Room starting TUESDAY, JANUARY 11 at 10 a.m 22 ounce bottles will be available in a few weeks. Nugget Nectar starts shipping to wholesalers next week and will be in all markets by the first week of February.”

Lost Abbey announced a few details for the next Angel’s Share release. The Brandy Barrel version will be released on Saturday, January 15th, in 375ml bottles for $15/each with no limit.

…Oregon breweries (and many craft breweries for that matter) excelled last year. Oregon Live’s John Foyston wrote about their successes. These include Ninkasi Brewing growing over 50%, Hopworks Urban Brewery growing 30%, Deschutes Brewery growing 12%, and Oakshire Brewing growing around 75%.

Saint Arnold Brewing‘s Founder/Owner Brock Wagner told Forbes this week, “We’ll brew over 30,000 barrels in 2010 [with $5 million in revenues]. That’s up from 26,000 barrels at the old location. We are running at close to 50% for the second half of this year. With more fermenters, we can max out above 100,000 here.”

Green Flash Brewing‘s Chuck Silva said recently that the new brewery location will triple capacity. He’s also part of the upcoming collaboration with Stone Brewing and Pizza Port Carlsbad which will be a scotch ale (dubbed Highway 78 Scotch Ale).

Avery Brewing announced that it will be releasing Margarete on January 28th.

…The video above? Al Jazeera recently provided a bit of coverage on the Ovila Abbey Ales project. Hat tip to Pacific Brew News for the lead.
