An East side edition featuring Dogfish Head, Troegs, Short’s, Jackie O’s, Buckeye, East End….
…More dumped beer at Dogfish Head: “[…] we dumped 1.6 percent of the beer we could have sold in 2009 and 1.7 percent of the beer we could have sold in 2010. We also jumped from 96,000 bbls sold in 2009 to about 120,000 in 2010. Bigger volume presents bigger challenges, but the percentages were nearly identical. That said, the last batch to contribute to our 2010 losses is our dear old friend Fort. In short, the worlds strongest fruit beer didn’t end up quite strong enough.”
…Per Troegs Brewing‘s blog, “Two more scratch beers in the tanks in the last 2 days: a variation of last year’s popular chocolate stout (scratch #27) on Friday, and today, a variation of the dubbel that was to be Scratch #34. The stout’s looking to clock in at 6-7% abv and was brewed with Warrior and Simcoe hops. It also saw a whole lot of cacao nibs as it passed through the hopback and will most likely see more, as well as some vanilla beans during conditioning. The dubbel was pretty traditional coming out of the kettle, but will see nibs and possibly some fruit during conditioning. A work in progress… stay tuned.”
…From the Short’s Brewing blog, “Released for the first time since 2007 the beloved Woodmaster, an Imperial Brown Ale made w/ toasted pecans and Northern Michigan maple syrup, returns to the Short’s brewing schedule. First brewed near the end of 2006, this beer was originally part of our 13 beer Imperial Beer Series. Hand filled, capped, and labeled the original was only available for sale at our Bellaire pub in 750ml bottles. This time we were aiming to make it more readily available for Short’s fans located throughout the state, and decided on doing a special bottle release in 12oz six packs. However, distribution will be extremely limited, so seek out your specialty bottle shops within the next two weeks, and get ready to covet your share of this very tasty brew. Can’t wait two weeks? Then visit our brew pub in Bellaire, where a select number of Woodmaster six packs are already available!”
