Keep warm, New England. Boston Beer Co., Cambridge Brewing, Mayflower Brewing, Shipyard Brewing, and Clown Shoes Beer featured…
…Per Mutineer Magazine, “2011 Sam Adams Utopias will be bottled in numbered, ceramic brew kettle-shaped decanters and only 53 barrels have been made available for this batch. Utopias will be released starting in May just in time for Father’s Day, and as with other years, you can expect a retail price of around $150 or more depending on the store. Also important to note, Utopias is prohibited from being sold in thirteen states as it exceeds the legal limit allowed for beer in those states. The thirteen states are Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, or West Virginia.”
…The first (or one of the first) all-female brewer collaborations takes place next week. Per Facebook, “Stone Brewing Company‘s Laura Ulrich (San Diego, CA), Victory Brewing Company‘s Whitney Thompson (Downingtown, PA), and Cambridge Brewing Company‘s own Megan Parisi (Cambridge, MA) will be gathering at Cambridge Brewing Company in anticipation of their collaborative brew here at CBC, to meet YOU and to share beers and stories (and stories about beers).”
…Per Facebook, “Our latest Cooper’s Series beer is now ready! We’ll be shipping Mayflower Imperial Stout to package stores [this] week, and we will be selling it out of the brewery as well. Supply is very limited.” This beer will be sold in 22 oz. bottles only.
…As previously noted, Shipyard Smashed Blueberry is now a go for March [May per Shipyard rep] as the spring release in Pugsley’s Signature Series, reports Daily West’s Norman Miller.
…Speaking of Miller, he also reported on brand-new stuff to come from Clown Shoes Beer in 2011:
Also available later this year will be a new Russian Imperial Stout, tentatively named Blackorn Unidragon, expected later this year. In addition, Clown Shoes hopes to create a couple of lower-alcohol beers, possibly a pale ale and a black India pale ale, which will be available in either cans or 12-ounce bottles. Currently, all Clown Shoes beers are available in 22-ounce bottles.
Next winter, Clown Shoes plans to debut its new barleywine: The Billionaire. The brewery is also working with Boston restaurant Jacob Wirth’s to brew a house beer, which may be called Jake’s New Old Time Ale.
FYI, we do get Utopias in Missouri. We first got it back in ’07 and look forward to seeing it again this year.
