Some notes from the Midwest and South Carolina…
…New Glarus Brewing revealed its first Unplugged Series beer of the new year. New Glarus Smoked Rye Ale will debut this month: “A bold rich smoky nose is created naturally with a blend of smoked malts from Bamberg, Germany and Chilton, Wisconsin as well as robust Wisconsin Rye. Special Ale yeast ferments this hazy deep amber brew in the bottle. This is a big smoked beer fermented with Turbinado sugar and appropriate for sipping slowly today.” The brewery also added to its schedule two mystery seasonals that will come out in September.
…Boulevard Brewing announced that Rye-on-Rye will return next year.
…Goose Island Beer Co. just released a brief video discussing the upcoming new bottle release, Pepe Nero.
…Flossmoor Station will release bottles of Killer Kapowski Baltic Porter this Saturday: “This delicious beer will be available starting at 12 noon. We will be selling this beer out of the rolling door south of the main entrance on Sterling Ave., and each bottle will be $10. We expect to have enough KK bottled so that everyone has a chance for a bottle, however there will be a one case, 12 bottle, limit.”
…Per Half Acre Beer Co.‘s blog from Jan. 7th, “One beer that we aimed to brew, but couldn’t squeeze in, was Chocolate Camaro, a chocolate milk stout brewed with nibs and lactose. So, we gave 2011 a kick-start and threw that mother into the tank right quick. […] A couple weeks till we release this one, so hang tight.” Draft-only.
…Coast Brewing quietly released Blackbeerd Imperial Stout earlier this month.
