Beer tap labels: AC Golden, Sierra Nevada

AC Golden is looking at you, craft beer drinker….

An interesting set of tap approvals here starting with AC Golden Brewing. Aside from a Baltic Porter a while back, the brewery has previously released what some would consider safe beers, traditional styles with moderate alcohol. That’s changing though. In November, AC Golden released a wild ale at the Festival of Barrel Aged Beers in Chicago. Now, the brewery has label approval for a Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout and a Belgian-style Saison. The question is whether the Coors offshoot will eventually produce any of these limited offerings on a wider scale and bottle them.

Sierra Nevada Brewing is joining the American Black Ale revolution with a new draft-only offering called India Ink. The brewery previously made Juniper Black Ale though that’s being referred to as a Winter Warmer or spiced beer on the rating websites. No release date has been declared. On a side note, New Belgium just co-released Trip VII Black IPA with Elysian Brewing (h/t Ken Weaver).

[1/31 Update: I removed a label for Saint Arnold’s HopStorm as it is an existing beer brewed on contract for BJ’s Restaurants. Apologies for the confusion.]

  1. I just want to confirm that HopStorm IPA is not a Saint Arnold beer. It is contract brewed by Saint Arnold for BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse. Disclosure: I help Saint Arnold with PR.

  2. Thanks, Dan. I took a second look at the label submission and it didn’t say anything about BJ’s Restaurants. Combined with the RateBeer listing, it was confusing but thanks for clearing it up. I’ll remove it from the post.
