(Kansas City, MO) – Boulevard Brewing adds the latest to its Smokestack Series lineup.
Boulevard reported last month that Boulevard Chocolate Ale had been bottled and it’s now been nearly 45 days so this one is likely hitting shelves soon.

Smooth layers of dark chocolate intertwine with threads of caramel, vanilla, and nutty malt as the flavor warms and rounds to a bittersweet finish.”

“In developing this beer, Elbow and Boulevard brewmaster Steven Pauwels sought to harmonize the interplay of chocolate and malt, with each supporting and enhancing, but not overwhelming, the other. Just the right chocolate was essential. Elbow recommend a rare variety from the Dominican Republic, prized for its robust flavor and aroma, and a personal favorite. more than a mere flavoring, the chocolate — in the form of nibs, or crushed, roasted beans — was incorporated into the brewing process itself.”
This was released in Kansas City today and has sold out in many venues. Most shops had a two bottles per person limit. My local store had four cases; they were gone by 1:30. I was there at 10:30 to pick up my two bottles. Looking forward to giving this a go soon.
Wow, who knew those would be in such high demand? Guess Valentines & Chocolate Ale are a perfect match.

The store I go to knows I like different beers and is always willing to get new stuff in. Sometimes at my prodding and some times by them.
We are what one would define as real Beer Connoisseurs.
When he showed me a bottle he had reserved in my name and asked me if I wanted it…I said, “Well DUH!”
I had not read anything about it, and was slightly afraid when I saw the words “Malt Liqueur Beverage.” Those words tend to bring to mind Colt 44 and such.
I must say tho, this is an EXCEPTIONAL brew by Boulevard. They have yet to disappoint me in the Smokestack Series.
If you get lucky and find a bottle…you will not be disappointed.
I would by a case of this. Hope they do this run again.
