Some quick hits from the East Coast…

The Alchemist Pub and Brewery out of Vermont announced on Saturday that it will be opening up a 15-barrel brewhouse in late spring/early summer with a new canning line. Why is this a big deal? Because the brewery will be offering Heady Topper in 16 oz. cans. It’s currently the 74th ranked beer on Beer Advocate.

…The Citizens Voice details a $15 million expansion at The Lion Brewery. They’ve added 70 employees and check out the production stats:

The state-of-the-art racking system cleans and fills 40 to 60 half-kegs of beer an hour. The new line produces about 800 16-ounce cans a minute and about 1,100 12-ounce cans a minute and packages them.

…Creative Loafing does its thing on Brooklyn Brewery as so many others have since the new brewery opened. A reminder: Sorachi Ace will be year-round beginning in April.

…Expect to see Holy City Brewing debut its wares in Charleston, South Carolina, as early as this summer.

Port Jefferson Brewing will open up in New York this summer.

…Startup, Logan Brewing, has re-directed its vision from a D.C. brewery to a Maryland brewery. You might recognize Logan as the brewery that recently purchased the rights to the Wild Goose brand.

…Biz Journal has some news on Bold City Brewery‘s expansion to a 20 barrel brewhouse (subscription may or mat not be required?).

…From Clown Shoes Beer‘s blog, a Hoppy Feet 1.5 update: “Snowmageddon 4 permitting, 1800 cases of volume should ship this Friday, split between Chicago and Maine. Upstate New York and Virginia are coming on line for a mid march release.”

…Finally, Yazoo Brewing bottled Hop Project #44 last week: “First wort hopped with Magnum and Warrior; Columbus and Nugget and Hallertaur at 30; Hallertaur and Galena and Tettnanger at 5; and dryhopped with Tettnanger and Amarillo and Galena. Available in Nashville area and Knoxville.”
