Another batch of stories from the past week…
…Sorry. All 700 bottles of BrewDog Abstrakt AB:05 sold out way before I put this up (sold out within 10 hours or so). Meanwhile, BrewDog’s James Watt is mocking MolsonCoors over on the Drinks Business.
…The water is dirty in Beer City USA.
…The Beer and Whiskey Guys blogged about a woman who lost her job as a teacher for a photo on a social media site showing her holding a glass of beer.
…Kate MacArthur of Crain’s Business wrote earlier this month that Goose Island is still considering its options in expansion, something that needs to happen eventually considering the brewery grew another 20% last year. Until then, according to SEC filings, the brewery signed an agreement giving it the flexibility to brew out of Redhook’s Portsmouth NH facility if necessary. The brewery hopes to expand distribution of its Vintage Ales line like Matilda and Sofie per the piece. MacArthur also co-authored a piece a while back about the pay-to-play Chicago beer market. (Both articles are behind a paywall).
…The Star-Telegram has more on this month’s release of Rahr Snowmageddon.
…UK blogger, Pete Brown, lays into Foster’s marketing: “Unlike other beers, [our hops] are added at the end of the brewing process to preserve their freshness.”
…Flying Dog Brewery is releasing a new draft beer shown here previously called Single Hop El Dorado Imperial IPA.
…Dark Horse Brewing is releasing a cream ale brewed with baby formula called Uber Boober for Extreme Beer Fest.
…Half Acre Beer Co. just released Baume and Callow Knife.
…Oakshire Brewing wrote about its recent KLCC brewfest collaboration.
…Yazoo Brewing just released Hop Project #45.
I read the BrewDog vs MolsonCoors article… Great article, glad to see BrewDog carrying the torch of craft beer in the UK. The part that made it the best was the lone comment at the end of the article. Methinks delusioned, incognito MolsonCoors sales exec hath spake?
