Playing some catch-up from the past week…
…What is that above? Hard to say but one of the most talented artists doing beer labels has a new project going. Phineas X. …Stone Brewing‘s Jacob McKean dropped a payload on the Stone blog the other day, an in-depth summary of what the brewery accomplished in 2010.
…Portsmouth Brewery announced details of this year’s Kate the Great release event.
…New York Press reports that Brooklyn Brewery is “losing sway” in its local neighborhood.
…Boulevard Chocolate Ale turned out to be a bigger hit than expected. The brewery will release it again next year. The brewery also says to think twice before cellaring some of its beers.
…A mechanical engineer has figured out how to turn brewery waste into natural gas.
…Beer Business Daily provides some stats on the just-finished SF Beer Week (and others like it). He also penned a piece on whether too much choice could eventually hurt craft beer.
…Recent reports suggest that both Schlafly and O’Fallon Brewery are moving closer to being sold (in Schlafly’s case, just part of the company).
A Three Floyds employee has confirmed, via beeradvocate.com, that the Phineas X. beer art above will be for a forthcoming Three Floyds release, Evilpower Pils, a collaboration with Chicago-based sludge/metal band Lair of the Minotaur.
