Wells and Young’s issues product recall, U.S. unaffected

(Bedford, UK) – Wells and Young’s has announced today a precautionary recall of beer bottles produced since 4 January 2011 due to a quality issue which could result in small fragments of glass being found in a small number of bottles.

There have been no reports from consumers and this was identified by our internal quality checks.

Only bottles bought with the above lot codes and best before end dates are affected.

Jim Robertson, Production Director said: “Through our rigorous commitment to quality, our internal control system has highlighted an issue affecting our glass bottles. As a precautionary measure and standard procedure, we have taken the decision to recall the stock which is potentially affected.

“The risk of glass in bottles is extremely low, however consumer safety is our number one priority and that is why we have made this decision.”

Further to the precautionary Product Recall by Wells and Young’s Brewing Company on 17 February 2011 and press coverage concerning potentially affected countires, the company can confirm that the US and Russia are unaffected
