Beer labels: DFH, Captain Lawrence, Mother Earth, Fegley’s

Big Flats Light can HF31511

New beer labels with an Eastern slant…

Dogfish Head Black and Red: This one’s a mystery. It’s described on the keg collar as an “ale brewed with raspberry, 50% having mint added.”

Captain Lawrence Saison: Only a keg collar so far

Mother Earth Sunny Haze Hefeweizen: Second label approval for cans

Fegley’s BrewWorks Blueberry Belch: Each 15bbl batch is made using 150 pounds of unfiltered blueberry purée.

More importantly, another QR code that points to a one paragraph (or one sentence) description of the beer. This hasn’t been released yet so it’s still early but my fear is that breweries won’t create a unique web experience or extra content that makes scanning the QR code useful. A beer description is a start but how about a 30-second clip of the brewmaster discussing the beer and pairing suggestions or some kind of rewards program for scanning the code?

Davidson Sagamore Ale: Returns after a long hiatus

Chi-Town Pier Pale Ale: I believe* that this is the second label approval for this brewery (after Windy City Wheat).

Big Flats Light: Big Flats wasn’t crisp and refreshing enough for ya? Try the light version. Nice and easy summertime drinking.

  1. I’m not certain that it’s a contract arrangement. I would imagine that space is at a premium in/around Chicago so maybe the rates are too high there (for either a contract or alternating proprietorship). I know the WI brewery does a lot of contract work so my guess would be that they offer a more reasonable rate due to available capacity & location. Only speculating of course.

  2. Oh I understand the perks, dont get me wrong.

What Im saying is starting a company named “Chicago Beer Co.” but brewing in another state entirely is comical in my eyes.

Its like selling “pure Maine Maple Syrup” thats actually from Canada – equally as ridiculous and un-supportable if you ask me.
