(YEMEN) – Just had this forwarded to me. What a riot.
This would’ve been a great April Fools joke and I’m not certain that it isn’t in some form. Some much-needed comic relief among these stories which are generally pretty serious in nature…
RE: ROGUE PULLING OUT OF YEMEN
Due to our exponential growth over the past 23 years and in an effort to continue to be a dependable source of supply, we regretfully informed our importer in Yemen today that we can no longer supply this emerging craft beer market with Rogue Ales, Lagers, Porters, Stouts and Spirits.
We have chosen not to contract brew and will continue to make 100% of our beers in the beautiful Oregon coastal town of Newport, population 9,532.
Our products will continue to be available to loyal Rogue beer drinkers, retailers and distributors in all 49 states and 31 countries including Guam, Trinidad & Tobago and Denmark.
Thanks for your continued support of the Rogue Revolution.
Sorry Yemen.
By “Our products” they are referring to Dead Guy Ale. That is about the extent of what gets distributed.
Considering the large portfolio and great quality thanks to their master brewer John Maier this is pretty disappointing.
Rogue sales and marketing are year-round April fools…
Wait, it’s disappointing that they only send Dead Guy Ale to Yemen? I can honestly say I didn’t know that a single craft beer was exported to Yemen from any U.S. brewery before today.
“All 49 states”… arent there 50?
Maybe they mean D.C. as the 50th but technically not a state. But I think there are 50 + D.C..
Did you know there is no such thing as free range coastal water? That’s a joke too.
No, there’s definitely 50 states. Maybe they meant “all 49 states in which we are currently distributing,” but the fact that they didn’t is very confusing and upsetting to me. Of course, if they’re not counting Alaska as a state, that would be fine.
Please advise – have they left out a prepositional qualifier or can we all stop considering Alaska a state?
I’d guess that they will continue to distribute to all 49 states that they currently distribute to and to the 31 countries that they currently distribute to. Not a reference to their being only 49 states… Mostly, though, I think it’s a commentary on the number of brewers that are pulling back distribution, which doesn’t make sense. Apparently, Rogue isn’t selling that well in all of the territories that it is made…
Heh, very upsetting? 🙂
If I had to guess, I would assume it’s Mississippi they don’t distribute to because of the ABV cap there. I believe it’s only 6.3%. Another assumption but if the ABV cap is that stingy my guess is that the local liquor authority ain’t a peach to deal with either.
49 states they distribute to, they are already in Oregon, so they don’t need to ship to that state.
