Dogfish Head Brewmaster, Floris Delée, leaving role

Floris-Delee-575

(Milton, DE) – Dogfish Head is currently on the hunt for a new brewmaster.

As first reported by The Brew Lounge last week, the brewery is looking for a replacement for Floris Delée.

Here is Vice President, Mariah Calagione’s comments:

“We knew when embarking down the Brewmaster path with Floris the biggest challenge we’d all face was the commute (he was physically here every two weeks and in Colorado with his family every other week). After a year, we all determined that it wasn’t the best scenario for either Dogfish or for Floris. Before Floris became our full-time Brewmaster he consulted with Dogfish for two years. We fully expect to continue working with Floris on some of the many projects we have in the pipeline.

Interviewing candidates now … we have no hard timeframe … when we have the right person, it’ll happen. In the meantime, our team of twelve brewers are keeping busy and we’re still making beer around the clock!”

Floris Delée had only been in the role for a little over a year.

Dogfish Head is the 11th-ranked craft brewery in the country (by production) according to The Brewers Association. The brewery pumped out over 120,000 barrels last year.

  1. The 120 Minute blog post is the same one from the end of last year (2010) indicating an early release in 2011. I think there is still hope for 120 in 2011.

  2. Very good catch! I saw it on Reddit & assumed it was new. They don’t timestamp their posts and I didn’t look at the comments.
