Liberty Station Complex – future home of Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens #2

Press Release:

(Escondido, CA) – Stone Brewing Co. is proud to announce that its award-winning restaurant—the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens—will be getting a sister location sometime in early 2012. Downtown San Diego diners can look forward to experiencing the famed cuisine, celebrated beer list, and lush landscaping for which the original Escondido destination is known, only much closer to home.

Set to open in the Liberty Station complex—which formerly housed the historic Naval Training Center—the creatively named “Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station” won’t just be some replica or twin offshoot however. “We would never make some boring cookie-cutter poseur copy of our restaurant. We’ll leave that for others to try to do,” says Stone Brewing CEO & co-founder Greg Koch. “Sure, we will incorporate a few similar elements here and there and maybe carry over a number of our favorite menu items, but we are looking to make this unique to the unique surroundings of Liberty Station!”

Besides offering inventive, sustainable, and eclectic comfort food, Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station will boast several outdoor courtyards and dining areas, a bocce court, and its very own brewhouse. “It’s too early to know what we’ll be brewing there yet,” explained President & Brewmaster Steve Wagner, “but it won’t be anything we already make. That much is certain. We’re looking forward to playing around and branching out a bit.”

Highlight breakdown:
• A diverse menu celebrating local, organic, sustainably produced food, an incorporating produce from the newly established Stone Farms in Escondido

• A 19,000 sq ft landscaped garden

• 40 rotating tap handles and more than 100 bottle selections, highlighting craft beers from San Diego and around the world

• 10 barrel brewing system

• Private dining rooms for large groups

• Stone Company Store, offering merchandise, beer sales, and growler fills

QUOTES FROM SOME SOON-TO-BE NEIGHBORS AT LIBERTY STATION

“I’m really excited to have Stone Brewing come closer to our of neck of the woods. When we started out it was definitely a struggle getting people to embrace a craft beer establishment and say no to the mass-produced product that dominated the public’s perception of “beer” for so long. Over the past four years we have seen an unprecedented response and shift in the public taste. San Diego is now well established as a national leader in the craft beer movement, and I can honestly say that Stone Brewing’s work and success have been a huge factor in our local craft brewing industry’s evolution. Stone’s continued growth and brand recognition has paved the away and allowed us to do what we do at Neighborhood and Craft & Commerce, so we couldn’t be happier to see them come to nearby Liberty Station.

I believe the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station will have a very positive impact on our community. I hope that Stone’s philosophy and ethos will be able to infiltrate and influence the practices of other local business, and help further elevate the social landscape of our neighborhood. ”
– Arsalun Tafazoli, Owner, Neighborhood / Craft & Commerce

“Stone is not only a leader in the industry but has proven to be supportive of the local community and other food and beverage establishments. The Stone name alone will bring in additional business that our community does not see at this time.”
– Ken Mills, CEO, Wine Steals

“We were very excited to hear the news and believe that a Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens location in Liberty Station will be an exciting and positive addition to our great community. Like our Corvette Diner, Stone is a destination restaurant and will attract both locals and visitors to our historic neighborhood. Stone Brewing Co. is a great San Diego County success story, and I believe that this fabulous new location will help continue to put Liberty Station on the map.”
– David Cohn, President & Founder, Cohn Restaurant Group
