Part II of today’s beer notes…
Schlafly Beer: Per the blog, “We’re now happy to announce that we have a long term agreement with Kent and Stephanie [Blackstone Brewery owners] to expand production of Schlafly Beer at their new Brewery in Nashville. This partnership will allow for continued growth of Schlafly in Tennessee and the surrounding areas as well as free up some much needed capacity at Schlafly Bottleworks in St. Louis. It should come as no surprise that in some ways, this brewery mirrors the set up we have at Bottleworks. They have a beautiful 30 bbl brewhouse just as we do, fermentation vessels of the same design, and much of the same bottling equipment. They’ve really done a great job to get the Brewery built and now we’re helping them to complete the lab and a few other areas, including assisting with staff training.”
Also of note, the reigning New Albanian brewmaster will be leaving his post to join Schlafly.
Boulevard Brewing: Brewbound reports on expansion, “This time, instead of breaking ground on a new building, Boulevard will literally rip the roof off its first cellar, removing six 105-barrel fermenters and replacing them with eight specially designed 300-barrel vessels. The project will increase the brewery’s fermentation capacity by about 20%, to well over 200,000 barrels per year.”
Three Floyds: Posted on the blog several hours ago, “If you want the opportunity to try a Three Floyd’s sour beer, don’t doddle. We just tapped an extremely limited quantity of I <3 DEESKO. Made with a proprietary yeast blend, this is the penultimate summer quencher. This will not last long. I <3 Deesko - A Munster-style Berliner Weiss. Tart, refreshing, and perfect for summer. 5 IBU 5.9% ABV $8 Tulip. Try it with one of these syrup options: Watermelon, Peach, Strawberry, Lychee, or Chipotle Pineapple $9 Tulip" Market Garden Brewery: Re: all those labels that went up here earlier today…depending on who you trust, it sounds like the brewery will open either this Friday or Monday.
Aviator Brewing: Per today’s newsletter, “New Equipment! We just ordered a new 30bbl brewhouse for our brewery!!! We’re very excited about getting our new system in a few months and being able to increase our production! Coming in the middle of July we’ll be getting our new 60bbl fermentors.”
Peace Tree Brewing: News on Blonde Fatale (label posted here a while back)
Bonus I: Per a Brewers Association Action Alert, “New York small brewers need your immediate help to get Senate Bill 1315, legislation affecting distribution agreements between small brewers and beer wholesalers, to the Senate floor for a vote. The fate of this important bill now lies in the hands of the Senate Rules Committee.”
Bonus II: xkcd does Connoisseurs
Bonus III: Two Madison brewpubs stop selling MillerCoors in protest of budget proposal that is said to adversely affect small breweries in Wisconsin
so what will be the final three floyds summer beer?
