Collaboration Saison with Opa Opa:

With that kind of national recognition, it opens up the opportunity for a retailer like Julio’s to work with breweries for exclusive beers. Julio’s has done this already with Smuttynose and Opa Opa to name a couple.

Julio’s actually just released its third collaboration with Opa Opa, a Saison. There are still a couple dozen cases or so left of the beer, available only in 64 oz. growlers at Julio’s. Here’s the retailer’s write-up:

Saisons originated in Belgium and were brewed seasonally for summer consumption in farmhouses. The beer is complex with fruity aromas, earthy yeast tones, lots of spice and medium bitterness.

Malts: Pilsner, Vienna, Wheat, Oats
Hops: Hallertau Hersbrucker
ABV: 8.5%

Store reps, Tom and Andy, actually worked with Opa Opa Head Brewer, Dennis Bates, on the brew.
