(Atlanta, GA) – Friday was Demolition Day at SweetWater Brewing.
(Above: SweetWater Brewing Company demolished a building, clearing the site for their continued expansion which includes a new event space, new lab, and expanded outdoor area, on track to be complete in November 2011.)
As reported by the Atlanta Beer Master back in March, SweetWater is in the midst of an expansion that will bring annual capacity from 100,000 barrels to 400,000 barrels. The project is expected to be completed this coming November.
According to The New Brewer (BA, May/June 2011), SweetWater produced just over 70,000 barrels last year.
Here is the press release that went out Friday.
It was a “hoppy” morning for the Atlanta based craft‐brewery, SweetWater Brewing Company, as they watched Atlanta Demolition tear down their neighboring building just after 8:30am. “We have the opportunity to expand and grow, but we’re still the same people,” said SweetWater Brewery’s Minister of Propaganda Steve Farace.
“The expansion will mean more upgrades and more space to continue serving the community. It’s all about the quality of our beer, and the more beer we can sell in our backyard the better.” Staying true to its environmentally friendly roots, nearly 98% of the building that was destroyed this morning will be recycled.

Destructed? Really? Here’s one: demolished. See also razed, but that’s advanced.
Heh, thanks. That caption came from the PR people. I didn’t really think twice about it but just edited. Cheers.
