More beer notes…here is Part I.
Dogfish Head: Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck have captured the making of a new Dogfish Head beer through “cinemagraphs.” The New York Times highlighted the unique form of storytelling yesterday and the pictures will be up on Cinemagraphs.com sometime today. The gluten-free strawberry beer called Tweason’ale will be nationally distributed at some point per Brewbound.
There is a lengthy piece in the Smithsonian about just how much time and effort (and money) goes into the making of an Ancient Ale. Lots of background on Archaeologist, Dr. Patrick McGovern, too. Learn all about Ta Henket which will be released this fall.
Flying Dog Brewery: On the heels of some tough news about distribution and hops, some good news for Flying Dog on the legal front…”Though the Michigan Liquor Control Commission has now approved the sale of Raging Bitch in the state, we have no interest in dropping the First Amendment lawsuit. With the support of the Center for the Defense of Free Enterprise and the law firm of Gura & Possessky, we originally filed suit in U.S. District Court on March 25 not only to overturn the Commission’s regulation banning Raging Bitch, but also to deem their ability to ban any beer label that they find offensive unconstitutional. Additionally, the suit seeks to recover damages from the loss of sales under the rule.”
Odell Brewing: Hot off the brewery blog, “Thanks to our customer’s feedback, after a small initial release of Hiveranno in Colorado we have decided to hold back the majority of this beer to allow for further bottle conditioning times. There may be a small portion of bottles that could have lower than anticipated carbonation levels or even flat in the market, and if you purchased one of these bottles please contact us at [email protected] for a replacement bottle. Even though this is a small amount of beer, we feel it is important to remain committed to providing everyone with a great experience when drinking this delicious New American Wild Ale. We apologize for the delay, we will keep you updated on when the release will happen and we are confident that when we release the remaining portion of this beer it will be at the proper carbonation levels. Cheers!”
Founders Brewing: Per today’s newsletter, “Our Blushing Monk will indeed be making its triumphant return when we open at 11am on Tuesday, July 5, in our on-site taproom and company Store. There will be a (2) bottle limit per person, and the 750ml bottles will be $15 each. Our limited supply will be sold on a first come, first served basis.”
Troegs Brewing: Confirmed on The Brewing Network that they are still dialing in Perpetual Imperial Pale Ale. Pilot batches may surface as Scratch beers this summer? Aiming for release by Labor Day. Speaking of Scratch beers, part of construction of the new brewery will be a 15 barrel brewhouse and cellar dedicated to only small batch beers like those in the Scratch Series.
White Birch Brewing: Beernews.org supporter, White Birch is hosting a craft beer festival in New Hampshire in just a few weeks with nearly 20 breweries signed on to pour their beers.
