Clown Shoes Update: Blaecorn Unidragon and Muffin Top

Blaecorn Unidragon

(Lexington, MA) – Clown Shoes Beer sent over a note this past Thursday. Still catching up…

Via Clown Shoes‘ Sean Geary:

Muffin Top is a Belgian-style Tripel IPA, built on the chassis of Tramp Stamp. Our original plan was to make a doubled version of Tramp Stamp (like we did with Hoppy Feet 1.5 last year), but as the recipe took shape the beer became more of a Tripel, however with more hoppy characteristics that one would expect with the style. The malt profile is less heavy than Tramp, but the ABV climbs to 10%, adding all sorts of candied sweetness. Muffin Top is now available in Massachusetts (starting today 9/1) and will find it’s way to other markets next week and the week after.

Blaecorn Unidragon is a hoppy Russian Imperial Stout registering at 12.5%. We designed quite a few test batches for this beer and have really taken our time on creating exactly what we want out of our biggest beer. The first batch was too much like a black IPA, so on the next one we lowered the hops, raised the ABV, and used the addition of Maris Otter malt as well as a bit of peated malt for a slight smokeyness. Blaecorn was bottled earlier this week and is now resting comfortably in our Burlington warehouse where it should stay for the next month or so. We don’t have an exact release date planned yet, but will be testing the beer periodically and will make decisions based off of that.
