Crown Imports plans to push Modelo Especial, Corona Familiar

Some news on the macro/imports side of things. The Chicago Tribune featured Crown Imports, third in U.S. beer sales volume, today. CEO, Bill Hackett reveals the direction that the company is taking in expanding its portfolio in the States.

Crown will also begin pushing Modelo Especial, which is the third-best-selling import in the United States despite receiving very little marketing support. The brand is very popular with Mexicans in the U.S., and it’s cheaper than Corona. Crown is looking for an advertising agency and plans to launch its first Modelo Especial campaign for the general consumer market next year.

  1. Would honestly like to see a push for Negra Modelo…Tastes much better but its harder to find and its never on tap : (

  2. I drank the hell out of both Negro Modelo and Modelo Especial on my honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta and Modelo Especial is my go-to light lager when I’m looking for something to drink on the lake or golf course all day in the hot summers. It’s much better than Miller/Coors/Bud.
