Anheuser-Busch to release DraftMark™ beer dispensing system, MillerCoors Day Keg™ approved

(Chicago, IL) – Two years ago, MillerCoors came out with the Home Draft® kegs for both its Miller Lite and Coors Light brands. These are mini kegs designed to hold beer (5.7 liters) fresh for up to 30 days.

Now, the company has label approval for what it is calling the Day Keg™ for both brands. This appears to be a branding thing more than an upgrade in draft technology — likely MillerCoors’ official name for what is commonly referred to as a “party keg.”

Meanwhile, according to a source, Anheuser-Busch is set to release its own beer dispensing system for the home called DraftMark™. The source said it would compete with MillerCoors’ Home Draft® system in that it will hold beer fresh for up to thirty days. This will be the company’s first trial into anything resembling a mini keg here in the U.S.. [ed. note: or at least that my young age can recall]. Stay tuned for official announcements…

As far as home beer dispensing systems go, Heineken NV has made more noise than both MillerCoors and AB in the U.S. with its patented DraughtKeg™ system.

  1. Once it’s opened it last 30 days. Growlers only last about 2 weeks. Makes me wonder what makes this stuff last that long without a CO2 layer…
@ ryan = carbonation. I believe that is the sole flavor of BC or M.

  2. ryan, fizzy yellow stuff can lose its fizz after 30 days… then you’re left with yellow stuff

  3. A-B put out standard mini-kegs of Budweiser (see http://www.lang86.com/documents/49.html ) – sometime in the 1990’s, I’d guess.

The M-C kegs, like the Heineken “DraughtKeg (which Heineken also uses for Newcastle now for the US market), have an internal C02 mechanism- thus the longer “opened” shelf-life estimate as compared to the standard gravity pour/external minikegs. Sounds like the A-B unit will be similar.
