Crouch on GABF: “Where did all the brewers go?”
Another heralded beer writer, Andy Crouch, chimes in on this year’s GABF:
Putting the awards presentation aside, I saw or ran into a grand total of 5 brewers at the 2 sessions I attended. I’ve never experienced such a shortage in my years of attending.
Well he must not know many brewers (maybe we all grew beards and long hair) because I saw everyone all night long Thursday and Friday and there was only about 500 of us standing listening to awards and then at booths afterwards on Saturday..
Agreed with Chad. There were tons of brewers there.
If you read the whole post, you’ll see that he said there were no brewers at the booths. Only stand-ins and other employees: “I saw a lot of booths (even whole aisles) staffed only by volunteers (many of whom knew nothing about the beer–I heard one get both the beer’s style and brewer’s state wrong in one exchange with an inquiring consumer)”
