Report: Mikkeller finds U.S. brewing partner in Drake’s
The nomadic brewer is now a bit less nomadic perhaps. Mikkeller has established De Proef as a stable partner in Belgium where most of his beer is currently brewed. The problem is that he has a large market in the U.S., to the tune of approximately 3.5k barrels for 2010, according to Beerticker.dk. That is a lot of beer shipped overseas for a small operation and has put Mikkeller at a disadvantage both in terms of freshness (many of his beers are IPAs) and price (shipping costs, etc.).
Beerticker.dk reports that Mikkeller has selected Drake’s Brewing in California as a partner. The first beer to be brewed is Invasion IPA (see label at link below). Judging by the report, it sounds as though some of Mikkeller’s staple beers may even be brewed here as well.

Breweries: Drake's Brewing, Mikkeller
Beers: Mikkeller Invasion IPA
Good news. Hopefully the price comes down and the freshness goes up.
