(Mt. Pleasant, SC) – Evil Twin Brewing‘s Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø sent me a link this week that I couldn’t decipher so I asked him to send me a blurb in English. Well, he came back with a lot…and in the third person! Here’s the scoop…

Evil Twin Brewing’s Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø will move the majority of the brewery’s production to the US in order to try and keep up with the demand. Two weeks ago Jeppe was in the U.S. to brew three beers. One, the first organic beer from Evil Twin Brewing, is an IPA brewed at an unspecified brewery in California.
Evil Twin then brewed two beers at Westbrook Brewing Co. on the east coast of South Carolina. First, a former draft only beer called Biscotti Break – a Porter with vanilla, almonds and coffee. And a new strong hoppy Barley Wine aiming at 11.5%.
Along at Westbrook Brewing was Fanø Brewery’s brewmaster, American, Ryan Witter-Merithew [formerly of Duck-Rabbit] – as most of Evil Twin Brewing’s current beers are contract-brewed there. Brian Ewing of Evil Twin’s American importer, Twelve Percent, was also present.
Brian Strumke of Stillwater Artisinal Ales also brewed a beer at Westbrook Brewing – Stillwater is also distributed by Twelve Percent and the plan is for the three companies to be working more together in the future.
The plan, now, is ongoing contract brewing at at least one of the two breweries where Evil Twin Brewing has just brewed.
Furthermore, in February 2012 Evil Twin Brewing will be participating in Beer Advocate Extreme Beer Fest.

News broke last month that Mikkel Borg Bjergsø (of Mikkeller) would be working with Drake’s Brewing in California to increase production.
I wonder if Gypsy brewing is the new contract brewing?
Hopefully Evil Twin will be able to can some of their products like Westbrook has been doing. Viva la can!
It seems to me that contract brewing is really about to blow up. I know most beer geeks turn up their noses at anything contract brewed, but with so many breweries facing capacity issues, this seems like the logical solution. Imagine is Three Floyds could double or triple their Dark Lord output, for example, just by renting out space in a facility for 3 months or so? Why wouldn’t they?
The unspecified brewer is called uncommon brewery.
