Samuel Adams Brewers’ Choice Variety Pack to debut in January

Brewers' Choice 12-pack

UPDATE II: Apparently, I never put this on the front page somehow. Enjoy.

UPDATE: Was told that RedHook had already removed the “Brewers’ Choice” name from its variety packs a while back.

(Boston, MA) – Move over RedHook. There is a new Brewers’ Choice Variety Pack coming to town.

The January arrival of the new package will follow the Winter Classics Variety Pack once it is sold out in stores. The Brewers’ Choice variety pack is just that, a selection of beers picked by six brewers working at Boston Beer Company. Here are the six:

Boston Lager – Jim Koch (Founder/Brewer)
Alpine Spring – David Grinell (VP of Brewing)
Irish Red – Bob Cannon (Brewer)
Black Lager – Grant Wood (Sr. Brewing Manager)
Mighty Oak Ale – Andrew Lamont (Brewer)
Whitewater IPA – Dean Gianocostas (Brewer)

There are three new beers including: the new spring seasonal, Alpine Spring, an unfiltered Helles lager; Mighty Oak Ale, an amber ale aged on oak chips; and Whitewater IPA, a Belgian-style Wit brewed with five hop varieties from Australia & the U.S. along with apricots, orange peel and coriander.

Out of the new beers, Mighty Oak is the only one that will be exclusive to the Brewers’ Choice pack. Boston Beer announced in this past week’s newsletter that the beer beat out Maple Pecan Porter in the 2011 Beer Lovers’ Choice contest.

Alpine Spring, being the new spring seasonal, will become available in 6pks, 12pks and on draft for both on and off-premise accounts starting in early January. Whitewater IPA will be available in a year-round 6-pack starting in February.

On an additional note, one of the four “Single Batch” Series beers, Tasman Red, will be available on draft starting in late early/mid February.

  1. Bob Canon first brewed Irish Red for his own wedding. He called it ‘Old Irish Hag’ and had a picture of his mother-in-law to be on the label.
