(Asheville, NC) – ABC News 13 aired a brief story last night on New Belgium and Sierra Nevada coming to town.

When asked about states still in contention, Assistant Brewmaster, Terrance Sullivan, said, “Virginia is one of them,” along with North Carolina and a few others.

Sierra Nevada’s new brewery will produce 200,000 barrels annually and create 140 jobs.

New Belgium, CEO, Kim Jordan, said that New Belgium has been looking at Asheville for over three years. They like the city because it is progressive and has environmental sensibilities.

North Carolina Governor, Bev Perdue, has met with Jordan to discuss the potential of the brewery building there. News13’s Russ Bowen reported last night on Twitter that an “incentive package is being kept on the down low for now.”

New Belgium’s facility would create 100 additional jobs.

Neither brewery is planning on leaving their current locations, just adding a second one.
