Town locals brave cold waters in hopes of luring New Belgium to Michigan

Seyferth said the temperature the day of the photo shoot was 30 degrees and 18 degrees with the wind chill. The photo shows the young professionals up to their waists in the lake, with their backs to the camera, holding cards that spell out "Love Muskegon." A picturesque lighthouse overlooks them.

More importantly, the Senate approved a bill earlier this month allowing breweries producing over 200,000 barrels of beer a year to sell directly to consumers.

  1. I’m not sure Michigan needs New Belgium. Jobs? Yeah, Michigan can use those. From a beer standpoint, I don’t think the state needs ’em. Except for New Belgium’s Belgian inspired offerings, Michigan breweries have everything covered.

  2. I agree, it be nice to have them here, but I think were set, I can’t speak for the whole state but the Detroit area does not have any distribution, so I’d be hoppy with that.

  3. New Belgium? They used to be the cool beer to pick up back in the day off the Phish lots, but Michigan beer has evolved way beyond NB. How ’bout I jump in Lake Michigan for some Russian River. That makes some sense. Let Colorado keep New Belgium.
