Carlsberg sales decline 7% in Russia
The immediate outlook doesn’t look much better. The government’s campaign to tackle Russia’s big problems with alcohol abuse is likely to further damp demand. This year will see a ban on drinking in public places, while kiosks won’t be able to sell beer as of January 2013. Beer sales could fall by a 0.4% compound annual rate from 2011 to 2016, Euromonitor forecasts: Over the same period, Asian markets could grow by 4.8%.
