Ontario board set to review antiquated liquor laws
We have it better in the U.S. than most recognize…
“The way the system is set up unfairly limits access to customers,” Mr. Beauchesne complained. “Molson, Labatt and Sleeman are completely in control of how beer stores look and feel, what products are promoted. They get to control the whole shopping experience and I get none of that control.”
The McGuinty government is pledging to review outdated liquor laws early in the legislative session that begins this week.

Imagine that in the US, you had a store called “The Beer Store”. It is owned, and run by the makers of Bud, Coors Light and Miller. That is where you have to buy beer. That is what it’s like in Ontario with a population of 13 million. When you walk in there, you see pics of Bud, Coors Light and Miller everywhere. Cases of it on the floor, big screen tv’s of Bud, Coors Light etc. I am sure you get the picture now. If you want a good Craft Beer, go to a wall and elbow your way in to where people are bringing back empties and try to find a small picture of your beer of choice. Most often than not, they will not have it. They don’t really want to sell beer not made by them. In other words, “Shut up, buy your Bud, kick it along on the floor and leave”. How’s that for a beer buying experience? This is why I make my own beer and never, ever go there. Yes, you can go to a brewery to buy their beer if you happen to live near one, or go the the state onwed LCBO where they only have over priced six packs. Why do we put up with it? Beats me.
@Murphy: Holy crap!!! I could not imagine living like that….it’s really horrible!
