Avery Brewing reveals two taproom exclusives

avery brewing logo(Boulder, CO) – Avery Brewing provided in an update on two taproom exclusives in its Friday newsletter. Boulder Weisse goes on tap Friday, March 16th though it isn’t clear what other times it will be on tap (if not already?). Similarly, no date is listed for Eremita III. More info below.

Avery Boulder Weisse

Berliner Weisse is a cloudy, sour wheat beer which thrived for centuries and is now bottled by only two German breweries. At a light 2.5-4% ABV, it is very sessionable, and was known by Napoleon’s troops as “the Champagne of the North.” To balance the sourness, it would be served with sweet syrups made from raspberry (red) or woodruff (green).

Our Boulder Weisse echoes the traditional flavor profile while adding a few Avery twists to the brewing method. This inaugural batch was aged in oak barrels for six months with a rustic Brettanomyces yeast strain and finished at 5% ABV. We present our homage in a customary goblet with two handmade syrups made from fruits for which Colorado is known – peaches and cherries.

Avery Eremita III Barrel-Aged Sour Ale

The Avery Tap Room hermit is back on tap and feeling social once again! Available nowhere else but our Tap Room, this third iteration of Eremita is strong and dark with rich malt complexity, an earthy yeast profile, and mouth-puckering sour bite.

A sultry blend from twelve Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, Eremita III is comprised of ales from five different creations in the Avery Barrel Aging Cellar. Ranging from a blonde saison to a black saison to a strong Belgian amber ale, they spent between 9 months to over 3 years in their respective barrels. Eremita III is a sour ale without the training wheels.
