North American Breweries may call it quits on $2.6 million Genesee project
Property just nominated for landmark status…oops.
A group of Genesee Brewing Co. executives, labor leaders and city officials stood in November inside a partly boarded-up industrial building, saying that by April it would be home to a $2.6 million combination microbrewery, restaurant, visitor center and gift shop. That scuffed building remains in the same state four months later. And Genesee’s owner, North American Breweries, is saying it may pull the plug on its plans.

Here is the website of the people who want to save the building: http://savecataract.com/
They even have a donations page on IndieGoGo: http://www.indiegogo.com/Help-Save-Rochester-Brewing-Landmark but they are only asking for $5,000, which seems quite short of the $1million needed for building restoration.
The IndieGoGo page was setup by a Joni Monroe who is Executive Director at Rochester Regional Community Design Center (RRCDC): http://www.rrcdc.org/about_bios.html
