
AB InBev buys stake in Dominican brewer as part of $1.24 billion deal
Anheuser-Busch InBev NV (ABI), the world’s largest brewer, will pay $1.24 billion for control of Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, boosting its expansion with the addition of the Dominican Republic’s biggest beermaker. AB InBev’s AmBev unit in Brazil will make a $1 billion cash payment and contribute AmBev Dominicana to a new holding company, according to a statement today. The brewer will also acquire a 9.3 percent stake in CND owned by Dutch competitor Heineken NV (HEIA) for $237 million, they said. E. Leon Jimenes SA will add its 83.5 percent stake in CND to the joint venture.
