(Kalamazoo, MI) – Last year, Bell’s Brewery hit Winery Exchange with a trademark infringement lawsuit over the latter’s ‘Copper Bell’ brand.
This week, both parties filed documents with the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board ending the dispute. Winery Exchange has withdrawn its application for a trademark for Copper Bell meaning that the brand will be no more. ‘Copper Bell’ is one of at least 30 private label brands that the company has developed for merchants in recent years. Neither party has disclosed the terms of settlement.
Winery Exchange had also requested an extension of time for which the company could file opposition to Bell’s trademark application for Midwestern Pale Ale though it didn’t take action in the allotted timeframe.
