Chicago-based startup brewery leaves The Plant, hunts for new location

Was New Chicago Beer Company too ambitious?

The Evans brothers […] said at the time that they expected to open in March 2012 and anticipated producing 12,000 barrels of beer in their brewery’s first year. They also said their brew would eventually be available in a 2,500-square-foot tasting room that they were planning. The brothers now say that the Plant is too large-scale for their brewery.

  1. We are working hard every day to make a good brewery that we can be proud of being a part. Here’s a quote from a great Chicagoan Daniel Burnham that inspires us. Cheers all.

“Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistency. Remember that our sons and grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watchword be order and your beacon beauty. Think big.”
    – Daniel Burnham, Chicago architect. (1846-1912)

  2. I have a building that once housed 1of Marshall Fields Warehouses back in 1915. This building would be perfect for a Brewery, with a testing lounge, as well as a restaurant and or sports bar . The building is 75’X 150′, 2 story Brick with a flat roof. The 1st floor has a 18’cieling, the 2nd floor has a 25′ ceiling. As the building sits it has 29,000 sq. ft. With 2 foot brick walls all around. If additional space is needed you can build up. The building is near south, 1 mile from Lake Shore Drive, 1 mile from the Dan Ryne, 5 minutes from McCormick Place, close to U of C and IIT. If needed there is a lot next door 25’X150 ‘. For additional info please contact me via email or phone 773 716-5466. Thank you Ezra
