While the role of acquisitions by Japanese companies has shifted, analysts predict a continued appetite for overseas assets in an industry reshaped by a wave of global consolidation. Anheuser-Busch InBev NV BUD -0.01% and SABMiller SBMRY -0.40% SAB. the product of big mergers, together controlled a 28% share of global beer volumes in 2011, according to consultancy Euromonitor. Combined, Japan’s three big brewers held only a 5% share.
